Valerie Slaybaugh, LMHC is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, with a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University. She completed an internship specializing in grief and bereavement with Providence Hospice and Home Care. Her clinical work includes treatment for children, adolescents, and adults. She enjoys working with her clients around learning skills to appropriately manage strong emotions such as sadness and anger, through teaching emotion regulation skills and mindfulness techniques. In her work with children and teens, she values parental collaboration and inclusion, and has specialty training in working with behavioral issues in children and parent coaching, as well as social skills training.
As a skills-based therapist, Valerie utilizes evidence based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and mindfulness skills, and also uses other therapeutic tools such as play therapy, tailoring interventions to the specific needs of the client. She emphasizes teaching healthy coping skills to her clients so that they can continue to handle life’s challenges and experience personal growth.
