Elisa Peterson, Psy.D., is a licensed psychologist specializing in psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for children, teens, and adults. Dr. Peterson takes a strengths-based, holistic approach to the evaluation process that considers trauma histories, cultural background, and identity development. She believes that mindfulness and developing a healthy self-understanding is foundational to positive growth, which starts with an empathic and supportive therapeutic relationship.

Dr. Peterson received her bachelor’s of science in psychology from University of Washington and her doctorate of psychology in counseling psychology from Northwest University. She has been practicing in the mental health field since 2009. Her practicum and internships included a teen-based health center conducting individual and group therapy, a community-based therapy clinic conducting therapy and evaluations with people of all ages, and an inpatient psychiatric hospital conducting individual and group therapy as well as evaluations with adolescents and adults. She has taught and trained undergraduate and graduate students in psychology since 2010. Dr. Peterson is also formally trained in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

The evaluation process offers:

  • Diagnostic clarity, understanding of co-occurring conditions

  • Thorough description of the client’s cognitive, neurocognitive, behavioral, emotional, and psychosocial functioning and how they interact with one another

  • Recommendations for treatment including beneficial therapeutic modalities and areas of focus

  • Recommendations for academic accommodations as needed; testing for learning disorders available

  • Referrals for other providers or community resources as needed
