Dr. Joanna (Thome) Patten is a clinical child and pediatric psychologist who specializes in treating children and adolescents presenting with a range of clinical concerns. She currently works as the Clinical Director of Embedded Behavioral Health at Seattle Children's Hospital where she works with youth with acute and chronic medical conditions and youth with needle phobia. In her private practice, Dr. Patten uses evidence-based approaches (including exposure and response prevention, cognitive behavioral therapy, etc.) to treat youth and young adults with anxiety disorders, including OCD (using exposure and response prevention), selective mutism, phobias (needle phobia, emetophobia, etc.) social anxiety, and other worries/fears. Dr. Patten also adapts evidence based interventions for use with children and adolescents presenting with adjustment concerns that are interfering in their daily lives and happiness.
In addition to her individual psychotherapy practice, Dr. Patten provides classes and group therapy interventions to youth, parents, and adults with needle fears and worries.
