Dr. Prama Chakravarti is a licensed clinical psychologist. She identifies as an Asian-Indian, multilingual (English, Bengali and Hindi), psychologist who values the practice of multi-cultural humility. Dr. Chakravarti is currently accepting clients (children and adults) for in person socio emotional and/or neuropsychological assessments, in her Issaquah office, for emotional disorders or intellectual giftedness, and neurodiversities like ADHD and Learning Disorders (e.g. Reading Disorder commonly known as Dyslexia, Mathematics Disorder, etc.). In therapy, she uses evidence-based treatment principles and tools, derived primarily from Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based CBT and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She actively collaborates with parents and the school system, when working with children or adolescents, especially regarding 504 plans or Individualized Educational Plans (IEPs). Dr. Chakravarti has extensive, collaborative experience with physicians in an outpatient setting. She accepts clients of all ages for CBT for Insomnia (CBT-I) and has completed the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Fellowship and Training, at the Perelman School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, UPenn.

Experience and credentials: Dr. Chakravarti is licensed in states of Washington and Indiana. She is eligible to practice under the PSYPACT affiliation (https://psypact.org/mpage/psypactmap), in more than 40 states in this country. This is particularly helpful when her high school clients move to a psypact member state for college, and be able to continue their consultation remotely while adjusting to the college environment and lifestyle.

Dr. Chakravarti graduated from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale with a PhD in Clinical Psychology. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the Village for Families and Children, in Hartford, CT and post-doctoral training at the University of Maine Orono, Clinical Psychology program. Before starting private practice she held clinical and teaching positions at the Clinical Psychology Program at Indiana State University, and Kadlec Family Medicine Residency Program/Clinical Instructor UW School of Medicine .

Areas of clinical specialty include:

  • Children, adolescents and adults (10 y.o. and up) with emotional, executive and behavioral challenges like anxiety, depression, trauma response or ADHD.

  • Parent training for emotional and behavioral disorders.

  • Neuropsychological assessments including assessment of adult ADHD.

  • Cognitive Behavior Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) across all age groups, including older adults.
