Dr. Kristen Bishop is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who provides therapy for children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. Dr. Bishop received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western Washington University and her Psy.D. from Antioch University in Seattle with an emphasis on child and family therapy and high-conflict custody evaluations. Her internship was completed through Eastside Family Institute. Her training and clinical experience includes work with adults, couples, and children and families surrounding behavioral issues, school and academic difficulties, social concerns, family issues, neurodevelopmental disabilities, and evaluations.
Areas of training and experience include the completion of the Parenting Evaluation Training Program (PETP) and the University of Washington’s Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) long-term trainee certificate. Dr. Bishop provides diagnostic and academic evaluations for children who are experiencing struggles academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. She values strong partnerships with parents and multidisciplinary professionals in the child’s life to provide united support for improved well-being. Additionally, Dr. Bishop enjoys working with parents to create and support plans for strengthening the parent/child relationship and implementing behavior change. She believes in working collaboratively with her clients to establish goals, build skills, and provide support around areas of concern. She uses a variety of evidence-based therapy approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based techniques. Dr. Bishop approaches therapy with an emphasis on the individual’s strength-based skills and empathy and respect for life experiences and areas of challenge.
